Zhongxiao Building of Liren Elementary School (originally the main building of Baogong Elementary School)

It's hard not to be captivated by this unique building when passing Ximen Road. The main building of Baogong Elementary School was built in 1938. The school's name originated from its administrative district, Bao-cho, hence it's pronounced 'Bao' Elementary School, not 'Baogong' Elementary School—a common mistake many visitors make. During the Japanese colonial period, Baogong Elementary School was the largest and most modern public school in Tainan city. Its architectural style is very distinctive; the main building has an L-shaped floor plan, with the corner diagonally cut to form a central main body where the entrance and main staircase are located. Administrative spaces and classrooms are at both ends. Currently, it serves as the Zhongxiao Building of Liren Elementary School and is a symbol of the school's spirit in the hearts of its teachers and students. When passing Ximen Road, be sure to stop and appreciate this beautiful and special building.
