Wu Garden (formerly Tainan Assembly Hall)

Wu Garden is a very interesting historical site in Tainan's Fucheng district. From Minquan Road, one first sees the Tainan Assembly Hall, an imitation Baroque-style building. Next to it is the Shibamau Teahouse, a Japanese-style wooden house. Continuing further back, there is a classical Chinese garden, which in turn is surrounded by modern high-rise buildings. Time and space seem to intertwine here, with buildings from various eras gathered together. On weekday afternoons, the grassy steps in front of Wu Garden are always filled with people sunbathing, resting, or picnicking and chatting. Others stand by the small bridge and flowing water in the Chinese garden, feeding the carp in the pond, creating a serene and leisurely scene amidst the hustle and bustle. The Shibamau Teahouse is also packed with guests, many of whom come specifically to sample tea, drawn by the reputation of Master Ye Dong-tai. Inside the Assembly Hall, there are many different art exhibitions, making this place not only a treasure trove of architecture but also a sanctuary for artistic life.
