The two major highlights at the intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Zhongyi Road are Hayashi Department Store and the Land Bank, which resembles a temple. During the Japanese colonial period, it was called Kangyo Bank, where 'Kangyo' in Japanese means promoting industry and encouraging enterprises. Its exterior architectural style is very unique, featuring Greek temple-style columns neatly arranged on both sides. The main building stands like an equilateral triangle, giving a very stable and imposing impression. Visitors often take photos of the Land Bank's spectacular full view from the rooftop of Hayashi Department Store. Many city tour activities also bring people here to appreciate the architectural craftsmanship. The high ceilings of the outer corridors are where many swallows build their nests. When you look up at the magnificent columns here, you will also see swallows flying back and forth to feed their young—a very interesting scene at the Land Bank.
