Lixian Hall, National Cheng Kung University (former Headquarters of the Japanese Army's 2nd Infantry Regiment)

Lixian Hall was built in 1911. It currently houses the NCKU Institute of Art and originally served as the headquarters of the Japanese Army's 2nd Infantry Regiment in Taiwan. After renovations in 1968, bathroom facilities were installed to serve as lodging for returning scholars or visiting professors, and it was thus renamed Lixian Hall. The building's exterior has not changed much since its initial construction and it is well-preserved. The most beautiful part of the building is its classical Roman-style main entrance portico. The entire building is richly decorated and very ornate, making it a historic building on the NCKU campus, contemporary with Dacheng Hall and the History Department Building.
