In ancient times, travel between Taiwan and China was quite inconvenient due to the obstruction of the Taiwan Strait. When officials were assigned to positions across Taiwan, after arriving in Xiamen, they would transfer to a sea route. Only after traversing the Black Ditch, known for its surging waves and terrifying swells, could they reach Luermen. From there, they would then switch to river transportation to enter Fucheng (the Prefectural City).
