Visitor Essentials

Located in an alleyway near the Yeh Shih-Tao Memorial Hall, entering the hall through the alley feels like stepping into a secluded and very tranquil world. Zexian Hall's architecture maintains its antique charm, featuring white walls adorned with natural wood-colored doors and windows, and decorative ventilation bricks subtly tinged with green. The interior furnishings of the main hall also retain their traditional appearance. Built in 1879, and despite several renovations since, its exterior has not deviated much from its original design. It was a zhaitang (vegetarian hall) of the Xiantian (Former Heaven) lineage of Zhaijiao (Vegetarianism religion), and is now presided over by Buddhist monastics.
