When Tainan Prefectural City built its wooden palisade in the 3rd year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1735 AD), the Xiaodongmen section's scope was defined as follows: The Great East Gate was established directly to the east, leaning against Longshan Temple. The wooden palisade extended north from the Great East Gate, continued past the Right Camp Hall, then turned northeast to the Xiaodongmen, and then went directly north, with the Great North Gate located near the City Guard Barracks. Therefore, the Xiaodongmen section of the city wall comprised the two segments situated between the Great East Gate and the Great North Gate.
