Visitor Essentials
The Fangyuan Art Museum is one of the most culturally artistic and beautiful buildings in Jiangjun District. In the past, the Fangyuan Art Museum had two identities: it was the former residence of Huang Qingwu, Jiangjun's first township head, known as Suiyuan, and also the Suisheng Hospital, where the elder Township Head Huang practiced medicine to help people. Built in 1944, the building's most prominent feature is the combination of a siheyuan (traditional Chinese courtyard house) with arched verandas, merging Chinese and Western architectural elements, which was a very avant-garde design at the time. After the Fangyuan Culture and Arts Foundation took over and renovated it, it became the current Fangyuan Art Museum. It displays many contemporary art pieces, and also houses cultural relics and old photographs preserved from the former owner, Elder Township Head Huang's study and residence. Visitors can take a good look at the lifestyle and taste of early cultural elites, and also appreciate the artworks of modern cultural youth.
