Pillow Mountain

From Baihe or nearby alluvial plains, looking towards Guanziling, one can spot a mountain peak resembling a pillow, hence its name, Pillow Mountain. Due to mining and rainwater erosion, its cliff face displays three prominent erosion marks, clearly visible from a distance, leading some to call it 'Three Dragons'. The entire peak is composed of limestone. Originally, it was a lenticular limestone body interbedded within muddy sandstone. Its upward-tapering end (the pinching-out end) was largely removed by mining, causing the limestone body to protrude from the surrounding muddy sandstone, much like a pillow, which is how it earned its name. This particular limestone is bioclastic, containing fossilized remains of organisms such as corals and shells.
