Caoshan Moon World

Caoshan Moon World in Zuozhen District is a badland formed by sandstone and shale, creating a gray-rock terrain. It connects with the mudstone badlands of Neimen, Tianliao, and Yanchao districts in Kaohsiung City, forming what is known as 'Chalk Land' terrain. Due to the soft geology, coupled with erosion by rivers like Caoshan Creek and Ganglin Creek, the landscape features rugged and continuous rock formations, numerous cliffs, and bare, sawtooth-shaped ridges. Because of the high alkalinity of the chalk soil, vegetation is scarce, with only drought-resistant thorny bamboo growing in this barren land. Along the road from Ganglin Village towards Caoshan Moon World, visitors will witness unique terrains with sharp angles and verdant thorny bamboo landscapes.
