Thousand Buddha Mountain Bodhi Temple

The Qianfo Mountain Bodhi Temple is located amidst the mountains of Guanmiao. Qianfo Mountain was formerly known as Datanshan or Xiangyangshan. In early times, the area was sparsely populated and dotted with tombs, a situation that only improved after the temple's construction. In front of the temple, a large pond reflects the entire structure, enhancing its extraordinary presence. On the mountaintop stands Taiwan's tallest Shakyamuni Buddha statue, 8.4 zhang high, along with Taiwan's first Diamond Sutra Pagoda. Beneath the lotus seat of the Buddha statue is Taiwan's only esoteric altar, embedded with nine hundred and ninety-nine Shakyamuni Buddha statues. This is the origin of the name 'Thousand Buddha Mountain,' making Qianfo Mountain an even clearer symbol of the Bodhi spirit.
