Mr. Yan Shui-long was a very famous painter from Tainan, originally from Hongmao-cuo in Xiaying. In his early years, he was encouraged by Mr. Sawada Takeo from Japan to study painting in Japan, and later pursued further studies in Paris, France. He was a pioneer of early Taiwanese local oil painting art. Mr. Yan Shui-long passed away from illness in 1997. To commemorate his lifelong contributions to public art and fine arts, the Yan Shui-long Memorial Park was established. Upon entering the park, visitors will see a bronze statue of Mr. Yan Shui-long standing in front of the Yan family ancestral temple. The memorial park houses a memorial hall and the ancestral temple, showcasing Master Yan Shui-long's life experiences and works. The park boasts a beautiful, quiet, and elegant environment, and the Hokkien-style ancestral temple architecture is also worth visiting.
