Cigu Lagoon

Locally known as 'Nei Hai Zai' (Little Inner Sea), it is the remnant of the Taijiang Inner Sea from over 300 years ago, covering an area of approximately 1,600 hectares. Taking a bamboo raft tour of the lagoon is the best way to experience Cigu Lagoon, with multiple boat operators to choose from. Along the way, you'll see oyster rafts, fixed fishing nets, and leisurely anglers in small boats, allowing you to fully appreciate the rich lagoon ecosystem. The mangrove forests surrounding the lagoon are full of egrets and fiddler crabs. There's also a very special waterbird, the cormorant. Although a waterbird, its feathers are not waterproof, so after each dive to catch fish, it must sunbathe on an oyster raft, waiting for its feathers to dry before its next hunt. This is a very interesting ecological behavior.
