Taiwan Prefectural Confucian Examination Hall

The Taiwan Prefectural Confucian Examination Hall originally served as the venue for all candidates in Taiwan to take the provincial civil service examinations. During the early Japanese colonial period, it was temporarily used as a police station. In Taishō 7 (1918), it was dismantled and relocated due to the expansion project of the Taichung Prefectural Government building. It was moved to its current location and preserved as a police club. Its relocation history bears witness to the urban transformation from the cluster of government offices during the Qing dynasty period to the prefectural government district during the Japanese colonial period, holding significant value for preservation and architectural research.
