Xiaoyun Mountain Villa

Xiaoyun Mountain Villa was constructed in the fifth year of the Tongzhi reign (1866). Lu Bingnan funded its construction to care for his mother, Madam Zhang. Upon its completion, Lu Bingnan's prestige was at its zenith. He had three sons, Ruyu, Ruxiu, and Rucheng, all of whom passed the imperial examination to become Xiucai scholars. Wu Ziguang, a Juren scholar, acclaimed them as the 'Three Phoenixes of the Eastern Sea'. During the Japanese colonial period, Xiaoyun Mountain Villa also produced two poets, Lu Hou'an and Lu Yunbai, both members of the Wufeng Li Society. With Taiwan under Japanese rule at the time, they spared no effort in promoting poetic education and Han Chinese history and culture.
