Visitor Essentials

This facility was constructed in 1940 by the Japanese Army to support the armed readiness of the former Japanese Army Taichung Airfield (now Shuinan Airport). Its firing network could suppress the open plains area to the east of the airfield. It is a machine gun emplacement, commonly known as a 'machine gun pillbox'. Its exterior is a conical concrete structure with a base diameter of about 10 meters and a height of approximately 6 to 9 meters. The walls feature multiple rectangular embrasures.
