The Taiping Tobacco Buying Station was built in 1955. It served as a place where the Monopoly Bureau appraised and purchased tobacco leaves from farmers. As it witnessed the development history of Taiping's tobacco industry, it was officially designated as a historical building in 2013. After restoration, it was planned into three major exhibition areas: the first is a local arts and culture exhibition area; the second is a tobacco interpretive center introducing the history of the tobacco industry; and finally, a memorial hall area displaying the works of internationally renowned iron sculpture artist Chen Ting-Shih, creating a new space that combines history with art and culture.
