Supported by factors such as market demand, technology, and capital, Taiwan's garment and apparel industry has seen garments and apparel become the main export products of Taiwan's textile industry. Shalu District has played an important role in the entire history of garment development in Taiwan. With the development of the industrial and commercial economy and decades of local industrial characteristics, the garment processing industry in Shalu District has flourished, making it the primary hub for garment manufacturing and wholesale throughout Taiwan. During its heyday, there were over 550 processing factories, mostly concentrated around Guangrong Street, Guangzheng Street, Fu'an Street, and Chenggong East Street. Wholesale markets were mainly concentrated around Jinhua Street and Laiyi Street, on both sides of Zhongshan Road.
