Shigang Old Street

Shigang Old Street, located in Shigang District, originally stood on what is now Shigang Street, adjacent to Provincial Highway 3 and the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way. On the bicycle path, which was converted from the 'Forest Railway' (Lintie), there is also the old site of Shigang Railway Station. The past prosperity of Shigang Old Street was closely linked to the rise of this station. With the decline of the Forest Railway, and after experiencing two major earthquakes, Shigang Old Street lost its former glory and has since been replaced by modern reinforced concrete buildings. Today, besides a preserved old granary, only a few buildings on Shigang Street retain Japanese-style wooden bungalows and Japanese-style black roofs. When visiting Shigang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shigang Lover's Bridge and the Shigang Dam Ruins.
