Wuci Zhenwu Temple

Wuci Zhenwu Temple primarily worships Emperor Zhenwu (also known as Emperor Xuantian). It was founded in 1845 (the 25th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty) by Tsai Da-ping and five other water-trade merchants, located in front of what was then Wuci Port, becoming one of the local centers of faith. Inside the temple, there is a plaque inscribed 'Wei Zhao Ying Yu' (威昭瀛嶼), which serves as a testament to the Dai Chao-chun Incident. This plaque was presented in 1864 (the 3rd year of the Tongzhi reign) by Wang Zhen, then Magistrate of Changhua, and Zheng Rong, a military commander, in gratitude to Emperor Xuantian.
