The Shigang Tuniu Hakka Cultural Museum was reconstructed from the old Liu family compound in Tuniu Village, a building rich in the distinctive characteristics of Dapu Hakka culture. The old Liu family compound was a significant symbol in the history of Hakka settlement and development in Taiwan's mountain towns, but it was completely destroyed by the 921 Earthquake. Through the dedicated efforts of enthusiastic Liu family members and local work teams, and after six years, the building was finally rebuilt to its original appearance, becoming the Tuniu Hakka Cultural Museum.
