Taichung Broadcasting Bureau

Taichung Broadcasting Bureau, built in 1935 (Showa 10 during the Japanese colonial period), boasts beautiful architecture and garden landscapes, making it a favorite photo spot for many tourists and an 'old friend' in the hearts of many Taichung citizens. Its address, 'No. 1 Diantai Street,' is also the only house number on the entire Diantai Street, which is quite unique. The Taichung Broadcasting Bureau once played an important role in Taiwan's broadcasting history, officially beginning broadcasting on May 11, 1935. It was established by the Japanese government to develop broadcasting, serving as an island-wide broadcast relay station, and was also Taiwan's third radio station. It retired from the broadcasting industry in 1998, was registered as a historical building of Taichung City in 2002, and underwent renovation by architect Chen Bo-nian in 2003. In 2015, it was entrusted to the 'Good Position Team' (@STUDIO Culture & Creative) of Sheng-Qiao Information's Historic Building OT Operations Division for planning and operation, with the hope of inheriting the broadcasting bureau's spirit of 'information dissemination' and establishing an important cultural broadcasting base in central Taiwan.
