Fengyuan Lacquer Art Museum

The development of lacquer art in Taiwan began as early as the Japanese colonial period. Taichung City, with its two major forest areas, Daxueshan and Baxianshan, provided the necessary materials for lacquerware craftsmanship. Furthermore, the Japanese systematically promoted the lacquerware industry in the central region, training a considerable number of lacquer artisans. With these conditions ripe, Taichung City's lacquerware industry flourished.
