Jiguang Street Commercial District

Jiguang Street is a commercial street that developed early in Taichung City. During the Japanese colonial period, this area was known as "Sakaemachi". Before Taiwan's retrocession, it primarily housed businesses catering to daily necessities, such as fabric stores, eateries, watch shops, and general stores. From the Japanese colonial period to the early post-retrocession era, it was arguably one of the liveliest streets in all of Taichung City.
