Taichung City God Temple

Legend has it that Chenghuangye (the City God) has always been worshipped by the people as a local guardian deity. The Chenghuangye enshrined in the City God Temple on Heguo Street in Taichung City is widely believed to be the local official governing Taichung City. The temple was founded in the 10th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1884) and was moved to its current location in the 10th year of the Taisho reign during the Japanese colonial period (1921). After several renovations, it remains a bustling place of worship today. Under the sunlight, the temple's magnificent glazed tiles on the roof shimmer brightly, complementing the lifelike statues. The 15th day of the 6th lunar month each year is Chenghuangye's festival day.
