Shigang Dam

Located on the road from Fengyuan to Dongshi, this dam was built in 1974, designed and constructed by local engineers. It originally served as a weir on the Dajia River. After the 921 earthquake, the dam crest length measured 275.5 meters. It is a dam that spans the Dajia River, serving as the main water source for agriculture, domestic, and industrial use in Taichung City. Whether viewed from afar or up close, it is magnificent and grand. The dam impounds water upstream, forming a large lake. During the high-water season, the green mountains and clear waters on both banks connect and embrace, creating a very enchanting scene, while downstream, piles of gravel form a picturesque landscape.
