Yuemei Sugar Refinery was established in 1909 and is located on Jiahopu Road in Houli District, Taichung City. Entering through the old locomotive, visitors can enjoy a new nostalgic ambiance and also savor traditional popsicles, recalling sweet childhood memories. The sugar refinery now adopts a diversified business strategy, with the staff welfare store, a remnant from the Japanese colonial era, being particularly popular among visitors. The tourist area opposite the staff welfare store features a fountain pond and a white bridge, with walls adorned with paintings depicting the old mountain railway scenery. Beyond the bridge, there is a covered corridor showcasing ancient farming tools and items used in traditional daily life, making visitors feel like they've stepped into a time tunnel. On the other side is a sales center, offering a full range of Taiwan Sugar Corporation products. Yuemei Tourist Sugar Refinery not only offers Taiwan Sugar ice products but also provides guided tours explaining the 'Centennial Tourist Sugar Refinery'. The refinery grounds are lush with vegetation and ancient towering trees, including a thousand-year-old Zeming tree, the only thousand-year-old ginkgo tree in the plains, century-old orange jasmine, and a century-old pine tree pathway.
