August 23rd Memorial Park

Taichung's "August 23rd Memorial Park" was established to commemorate the "August 23rd Artillery Battle" that erupted on August 23, 1958, when Communist forces shelled Kinmen. It honors the ROC military personnel and civilians who bravely resisted and defended Taiwan. The park exhibits various equipment from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with detailed interpretive plaques, demonstrating the city government's emphasis on historical memory. Although some of the displayed weapons were not used during the actual battle but rather equipment adopted for subsequent Taiwan Strait defense, they still hold representative and educational significance.
