Wu Zong-lin Gong and Copper Sculpture Studio

At dusk, the resounding sound of gongs echoes through the valley of the Nanshi River in Wulai. With their bright and vibrant sound, gongs play a crucial role in Taiwan's temple parade music (Jhentou music). Wu Zong-lin Gong and Copper Sculpture Studio is situated by the Nanshi River, close to the Wulai Tourist Bridge. Master Wu Zong-lin, a native of Wulai, has dedicated over 40 years to the art of gong making, handcrafting more than six thousand gongs. He is one of Taiwan's rare master gong makers and artists. In his early years, he apprenticed at a factory in Sanchong. After mastering his craft, he returned to Liuxianju in Wulai to create gongs and copper sculptures. In 2011, he was honored with the New Taipei City Traditional Arts Master Award.
