Visitor Essentials

Xindian District, New Taipei City, is located on the southern edge of the Taipei Basin. It borders Zhonghe District to the north, Tucheng District to the west, Shiding District to the east, and Sanxia District and Wulai District to the south, making it the transportation and commercial hub of southern New Taipei City. In early times, it was home to the Hsiulang community and the Atayal people, who primarily lived a tribal life centered around fishing and hunting. In the early 18th century, Han Chinese immigrants introduced new agricultural methods such as plowing and hoeing, which transformed the original landscape. Relying on the convenient water transport provided by the Xindian River, commercial activities flourished, and the Dabitan Commercial District gradually took shape.
