There are 9 old tunnels between Ruifang Station and Shuangxi Station, which led to the Hokkien proverb 'one coin drills nine holes'. Four of these old tunnels have already been converted into bike paths. After reopening the old Yilan Line railway tunnel, which had been abandoned for 30 years, the Sandiaoling Eco-friendly Tunnel now spans a total length of 3.19 kilometers. It features Taiwan's first 'reinforced concrete bicycle path'. Designers used a pool design to transition the tunnel entrance from dark to light, creating stunning mirror-like reflections that capture the lush green landscape of Sandiaoling. There's even a chance to encounter trains. Considering two-way traffic safety from the Sanguazi Tunnel to the suspended boardwalk, bicycles must be walked through by hand.
