Huanggang Public Bathhouse (Golden Hot Spring)

The hot springs in Jinshan District, New Taipei City belong to the Datun Mountain geothermal belt. The spring water at Huanggang Public Bathhouse, when it emerges, is transparent and colorless. It has been certified by the Taiwan Hot Spring Research and Development Center as an "iron spring". The iron ions in the spring water oxidize upon contact with air, turning the water a golden-brown color. This type of spring water is renowned in Japan as the "Golden Hot Spring". Sediments from oxidized iron ions will form at the bottom of the pools, and floating particles from combined mineral ions (known as "Yu no Hana" in Japan) will appear on the surface. All of these are natural phenomena. The outdoor foot bath hot springs operate on a flow-through system. It is recommended to let the original spring water cool to a suitable temperature before soaking, as this will enhance its health-promoting effects.
