Sankongquan Hiking Trail

Sankongquan, also known as Three-Hole Spring, is located between Shuxing Village and Pingding Village in Tamsui. It gets its name from the three natural spring outlets in the area where gushing springs emerge. Sankongquan is the upstream area of the Huanggao River, one of Tamsui's fourteen rivers. Shulinkou Stream, originating from Fenweihu, and Sankongquan Stream, originating from Xingfuliao, converge here to form the Huanggao River, which then flows westward into the Tamsui River. Situated on the hillside east of the current Tamsui MRT Station, this area was settled by Han Chinese as early as the Qing Dynasty, who reclaimed the land and developed settlements. Here, one can find traditional brick-and-stone Han Chinese Sanheyuan (courtyard houses), terraced vegetable gardens, and converted recreational farms.
