Visitor Essentials

The Lailai Geological Area is located on the south shore of Cape San Diego, Taiwan's easternmost point, and is an extension of the Xueshan (Snow Mountain) Range. The term 'Lailai' is believed to be a transliteration from the Basay language. Facing the Pacific Ocean, its geology, characterized by alternating layers of sandstone and shale, has been shaped by lava intrusions and constant erosion from sea waves and wind over the years, forming a sea-eroded platform stretching for hundreds of meters. It boasts a rich intertidal ecosystem and diverse geological landscapes, and from here, one can also enjoy distant views of Guishan Island (Turtle Island).
