Ruifang Old Street

Located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Ruifang Old Street has a history even longer than Jiufen. During the late Qing Dynasty, gold was discovered in Jiufen, attracting crowds of miners. At that time, a shop near the ferry crossing was named "Ruifang." Miners always passed by this shop, and it also served as a midway supply and rest stop for people traveling to and from Yilan. People frequently exclaimed "Let's go to Ruifang" or "Coming back from Ruifang," and thus "Ruifang" became the place name.
