Benshan No. 5 Pit, as its name suggests, was one of the nine tunnels during the heyday of Benshan's mining industry. Located on the mountainside of Benshan at an elevation of approximately 295 meters or more, it faced closure in 1978 (ROC Year 67) after Jinguashi ceased gold mining in 1972 (ROC Year 61). Today, the No. 5 Pit is the best-preserved tunnel among the nine existing mines in Benshan. The air compressor, mine cart locomotives, washrooms, and ore transportation cableway once used for gold mining are still preserved, bearing witness to a century of Jinguashi's mining history.
