Keelung Mountain Trail

The trailhead for Keelung Mountain is located approximately 350 meters from the entrance of Jiufen Old Street, with a parking lot conveniently nearby. A clear stone monument also indicates the trailhead. Keelung Mountain is named such because its shape resembles a giant chicken coop (雞籠, jīlóng), which was its original historical name. Although it was later given the elegant name 'Keelung Mountain,' it actually has little to do with Keelung, the important port in northern Taiwan, apart from its relatively close geographical location. When viewed from the side, it also resembles a reclining pregnant woman, hence its nickname 'Big-Bellied Sleeping Beauty Mountain'.
