Wufuyang Socks Story Museum

Wufuyang Knitting was founded in 1936 during the Japanese colonial era. For 85 years, it has focused on sock manufacturing. Unlike the typical division of labor in sock manufacturing, Wufuyang handles everything from raw materials, design, weaving, to sales, without relying on others, always upholding the old sock factory's commitment to quality. Wufuyang has woven over 100 million pairs of socks to date. If all these socks were connected, they could circle the Earth once. In the 1930s, there were no professional sock factories in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. The first-generation chairman, Wu Nai-yang, noticed a business opportunity. He imported the most advanced hand-cranked sock knitting machines of that time from abroad and hired master craftsmen from Shanghai to Taiwan to teach the production of high-quality full-fashioned silk stockings. This marked the beginning of the Wu family's connection with socks. When Wu Nai-yang founded the company, he deeply cherished the memory of his late father, Wu Fu-tang. He combined one character from his own name and one from his father's name to name the company "Wufuyang," to honor his ancestors and remember the origins.
