Candlestick Islets

The Candlestick Islets stand approximately 60 meters tall. A poignant legend of the "Husband and Wife Rock" is widely told here. This area was originally part of Jinshan Cape. Due to plate tectonics, rocks with crisscrossing horizontal and vertical joints were formed. Over time, continuous erosion by seawater and wind caused them to separate from the cape. After prolonged wave erosion, the sea cave beneath the small islet gradually penetrated through the headland, forming a sea arch similar to Shimen. Later, the top of the sea arch collapsed, creating two prominent sea stacks. While their bases are connected, they diverge into two islets above the water. Their shape resembles two candlesticks, which is why they are named "Candlestick Islets."
