Xizhi Old Street

Xizhi Old Street refers to the short, one-kilometer stretch of Zhongzheng Road from Xizhi Railway Station to Limen Street. Formerly known as "Shuifanjiao Street," it was once a crucial cargo transfer hub along the Keelung River and was dubbed "Xizhi's First Street." Its past prosperity left behind numerous historical relics. Some buildings along the street still feature traditional red brick walls and Baroque-style Western mansions. The street's former glory is evident in various historical sites, such as Niuchoutou Wharf, the public market, granaries, churches, and the remains of the Aimen Gate. It also boasts many old shops, some operated by families for three generations, including rice shops, fabric merchants, pharmacies, and incense shops. Furthermore, parts of the street's architecture continue to preserve the traditional style of long street houses.
