Visitor Essentials
On the latter part of Jishan Street's Qingbian Road, you'll find a sign directing you to the 'Jiufen Gold Mine Museum'. Following the path, you'll come across a stand-alone private house with 'Jiufen Gold Mine Museum' displayed on it. It was established in 1992 by the late miner Mr. Zeng Shuichi, who single-handedly converted his ancestral property into the museum. After Mr. Zeng Shuichi passed away in 2012, his son Zeng Jianwen and granddaughter Zeng Yixian have continued to maintain it, a truly remarkable feat. Even more remarkably, the museum houses over a thousand types of raw ore that the veteran miner Zeng Shuichi extracted from the mine tunnels in his time. It's not just the impressive quantity, but also the difficulty of resisting the urge to refine them, knowing that what is being kept unrefined is valuable gold.
