Yuan Mountain Hiking Trail

Yuan Mountain is adjacent to the west side of Sanxia Old Street, and its peak is named for its resemblance to a flying raptor. Yuan Mountain and Yingge Stone, located on the north bank of the Dahan River, face each other from afar. When traveling on National Freeway No. 3, the two peaks appear like gateposts for entering and exiting New Taipei City, one on the left and one on the right. According to folk legend, Koxinga Zheng Chenggong's army once encountered an attack by two monstrous birds here. Zheng Chenggong ordered his army to attack them with dragon cannons, and after being shot down, the two monstrous birds transformed into the present-day Yingge Stone and Yuan Mountain. Yuan Mountain stands majestically to the south of the Dahan River Alluvial Plain, offering excellent views, and is a popular hiking destination in Sanxia.
