Feitsui Reservoir is Taiwan's first large double-curvature, variable-thickness concrete arch dam, independently designed and constructed by Taiwanese. The dam stands 122.5 meters tall, and its storage capacity is second only to Zengwen Reservoir. Construction began in 1979 and was completed in 1987. Its primary purpose is to supply tap water to the Taipei area, with power generation as a secondary objective. To protect the quality of its source water, the reservoir is not open for tourism or recreation; fishing and water activities are prohibited within its waters.
