Sanzhi Sanban Bridge

Sanban Bridge is located upstream of the Datun River in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City. The bridge spans the Datun River and is constructed in three sections, all made of stone slabs. It is hidden beneath the new "Sande Bridge", measuring approximately 18 meters long and 1.3 meters wide. During the Qing Dynasty, it served as a vital route for residents from the mountainous areas of Jinshan, Shimen, and Sanzhi to access Tamsui. Later, with the development of transportation, the Taipei County Government (now New Taipei City) built a new bridge, "Sande Bridge", in 1933 to facilitate the passage of people and vehicles. According to the "Sande Bridge Construction Record" located next to the bridge, its body was constructed with stone slabs in three sections, hence its name "Sanban Bridge" (meaning "Three Slab Bridge").
