Jianshanhu Memorial Monument

The Jianshanhu Memorial Monument is located at Shimen Cave in Shimen District, approximately one kilometer from the famous Qingshan Waterfall. During the Japanese colonial period, in the 12th year of Showa (1937 AD), the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service dispatched personnel to fight in China. While passing over Jianshanhu in Taiwan's Shimen District, a fighter plane unfortunately crashed due to bad weather, and all 7 officers on board perished. To commemorate these soldiers, the Japanese authorities specifically erected a memorial monument at the crash site in Jianshanhu to honor them. This included a twelve-meter-high stone monument inscribed with "Place Where Navy Soldiers Died in Battle," and a shrine was built for commemoration. Several cherry blossom trees were planted around it, and numerous small stone lanterns were installed. Currently, there is a well-planned hiking trail, and on holidays, many people come here to hike and enjoy the offshore scenery of Shimen District.
