Little White House (New Taipei City Tamsui Historical Museum)

The "Former Customs Officer's Residence of Tamsui in Qing Dynasty," also known as the "Little White House," was built in 1862 and boasts a history of over a century. It gets its name from its striking Spanish-style white architecture. Located in the area formerly known as "Paotaipu," it sits on the highest point of the second hill from the Tamsui River mouth. In the 1860s, when Tamsui opened its port for trade, this area became the primary district for foreigners to conduct business, trade, and reside. Many exotic-style buildings were constructed at that time, and the Little White House is one of them, characterized as colonial-style architecture.
