Sanjhong Temple

The Sanjhong Temple, also known as Sangong Temple, is located on Chang'an Street in Shuangxi Village. It is a temple in Shuangxi District, New Taipei City, dedicated to the statues of three loyal ministers from the late Southern Song Dynasty: Wen Tianxiang, Lu Xiufu, and Zhang Shijie. In the 46th year of the Qianlong Emperor's reign during the Qing Dynasty (1781 AD), Lian Yuanqiao, a native of Jiangdu Township, Changtai County, Fujian Province, led a group across the sea to Taiwan. He brought with him a statue of Duke Wen Tianxiang. After crossing mountains and valleys to reach Shuangxi, he discovered it was a wild, undeveloped area, yet blessed with beautiful mountains and clear waters. He consequently settled there, engaged in land reclamation and cultivation, and built a thatched hut for worship. Although these immigrants to Taiwan were not fleeing war, the Han Chinese spirit of 'overthrowing the Qing and restoring the Ming' remained fervent. Furthermore, having left their homeland and traveled across vast oceans, they inevitably felt a sense of emptiness and isolation, and thus universally placed their spiritual hopes in the protection of deities for peace and well-being.
