Jingtong Mining Living Museum

Pingsi District flourished due to coal mining and subsequently declined after mining operations ceased. The Jingtong Mining Living Museum, renovated from a former Taiwan Railways Administration staff dormitory, showcases the development history of Jingtong's mining industry. Although all mines in the district have now ceased operations, they have left behind significant industrial heritage sites that have become unique local attractions. These include Jingtong Station, the coal screening and washing plant, and the Pingsi Guesthouse, all of which were listed among the "2001 Taiwan's Top 100 Historical Sites" by the Council for Cultural Affairs. The museum integrates with local tourism, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the area's historical artifacts and local culture.
