Stilt House

Shiding East Street, also known as 'Diao Jiao Lou' (Stilt Houses) and Shiding Old Street, is Taiwan's only remaining 'Bujian Tianjie' (covered street where you can't see the sky). If you look closely at the houses here, you'll easily notice that they all rely on the strength of pillars, suspending them above the riverbed, making for a very unique architectural style.
