Visitor Essentials
The New Taipei City Military Martyrs' Shrine was originally named the New Taipei City Military Cemetery. It is located on the southern slope of Mount Datong in Shulin District, New Taipei City, covering an area of 5.6 hectares. The memorial hall was completed in July 1959, serving as a place for the perpetual veneration of fallen soldiers and deceased veterans. After more than twenty years of use, the original military cemetery's early architecture was rudimentary, facilities were dilapidated, and the memorial hall and ossuary were no longer adequate. In 1982, it underwent reconstruction at its original site, completed and opened in March 1984. In June 1996, it was approved to be renamed "New Taipei City Military Martyrs' Shrine." Following the administrative reclassification of the county into a special municipality, its name was reaffirmed as "New Taipei City Military Martyrs' Shrine."
